The ReZoom™ intraocular lens is a second-generation refractive multifocal IOL that provides hyperopic cataract patients with greater independence from glasses than monofocal IOLs. The ReZoom™ multifocal design provides a range of vision that monofocals cannot match. The ReZoom™ Balanced View Optics™ technology distributes light over five optic zones so that each lens has a distance-dominant central zone for distance vision in bright light conditions when the pupil is constricted.

If I am nearsighted, can I have a ReZoom™ IOL implant?
Most nearsighted people are not as good of candidates. Nearsighted people are accustomed to sharp vision up close that is not easily reproduced with the ReZoom™ lens. Nearsighted people report more problems with glare and halos than those who are farsighted. Some extremely nearsighted people do well with the ReZoom™ lens. A complete exam will determine whether you are a candidate.

Will I have perfect vision with the ReZoom™ multifocal IOL?
No, not necessarily. Remember, the ReZoom™ lens offers independence from glasses for most situations. Most patients have very good distance vision — good enough to get a driver’s license without glasses. Most patients have good enough near vision for most near work but may need glasses for extended periods of reading.

Will I ever have to wear glasses if I have a ReZoom™ lens?
Maybe. However, 92% of those who received the technology in the ReZoom Multifocal lens reported wearing glasses either “never” or “occasionally.” You will probably need glasses either for long periods of reading or for small print. Some people wear glasses for night driving or prolonged periods of driving.

If I have a ReZoom™ IOL implant, will I ever have to have another eye surgery?
There are certainly no guarantees, but unlike LASIK, the ReZoom™ lens is designed to correct your near and far distance vision. Because your natural crystalline lens is removed, the ReZoom™ lens may treat your hyperopia, loss of accommodation and a cataract all in one procedure. You may need a procedure to correct astigmatism or enhance your vision shortly after receiving your ReZoom™ lens but that is designed to ‘fine tune’ or optimize your vision.

What are the halos or glare like at night?
If you are farsighted you probably already notice fuzziness around taillights or traffic lights. The halos or glare experienced by some patients with the ReZoom™ lens are like a fuzziness around lights, but for most people this does not keep them from driving.

Is the ReZoom lens covered by Medicare?
Medicare and most private insurances cover cataract surgery. Medicare beneficiaries may choose to receive a deluxe presbyopia-correcting lens, such as the ReZoom lens, that allows the eye to focus on near, intermediate, and far vision, minimizing the need for corrective lens. However, you are responsible for payment of that portion of the charge for the lens and associated services that exceed the charge for a conventional lens. Our insurance department is available to help with any inquiries.

Can I have the ReZoom Lens Implant even if I do not have cataracts?
If you do not have cataracts but are presbyopic, you may choose to have the ReZoom lens implant; however, it would be considered an elective refractive procedure, and you would be responsible for paying the full cost of the procedure.

Use of this lens for patients without cataracts is considered off-label use.
