Area Cataract and LASIK surgeon Jonathan M. Frantz, MD, FACS, is pleased to announce the January opening of his office at 109 Taylor Street in Punta Gorda. Joining Dr. Frantz in the new office will be Board-Certified Optometrist Aaron Judd, OD. Dr. Judd is a Summa cum Laude graduate of Southern College of Optometry, Memphis, TN. Prior to joining Florida Eye Health, Dr. Judd served as a Captain in the United States Army, serving as Assistant Chief of Service at Keller Army Community Hospital at the US Military Academy at West Point. He was a deployed Task Force Optometrist in Iraq for one year.
Dr. Judd and the staff at the Punta Gorda office will provide area residents with comprehensive eye exams, cataract and laser vision correction pre and post-op care, management of eye diseases, and full service optical.
“When you’re ready for a surgical procedure to correct your vision, our Center for Laser Vision Correction and Suncoast Surgery Center are just a few miles away in Fort Myers,” said Dr. Frantz. “For your convenience, your follow-up visits can be done at our Punta Gorda office or you may choose to have them with your family optometrist who referred you to me for surgery,” explained Dr. Frantz.
As the area’s leading LASIK surgeon, Dr. Frantz has remained on the leading edge of technology. Today almost all individuals who are nearsighted, farsighted, or have astigmatism who are eligible for LASIK surgery can be treated with CustomVue. A thorough examination and several diagnostic tests will determine whether you are a candidate for LASIK.
Dr. Frantz also offers several CustomLens implant options for someone with or without cataracts. “The two lenses that I am seeing the best results with at this time are the ReZoom and ReSTOR lenses,” said Dr. Frantz. These CustomLens implants provide a full range of vision, thus reducing your dependence on glasses, including reading glasses. A lens implant can also be done on a patient without cataracts as an elective procedure; however, is considered off-label use of the lens.
“At Florida Eye Health, we pride ourselves in the quality of our staff, our facilities and our patient education,” added Dr. Frantz. “We encourage you to schedule a complimentary screening where you can ask questions, learn about the vision correction options, meet our staff and find out which procedure is right for you,” he said.
“As the full-time optometrist at the Punta Gorda office, I can’t wait to get involved in the Charlotte County social and cultural scene,” said Dr. Judd. “I’ve heard so much about how friendly the community is and that no one is a stranger. That’s the kind of community I want to call home,” he added.
Dr. Frantz established Florida Eye Health in 1994 at his main office in Fort Myers. He now has locations in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Punta Gorda and Naples with a medical staff of six optometrists and more than 70 employees.
