FORT MYERS - Jonathan M. Frantz, MD, FACS, medical director of Florida Eye Health, is pleased to announce that Board-Certified Optometrist Juan R. Canizales, OD, has joined the medical team at the practice’s Naples office, 2100 Tamiami Trail North.
Dr. Canizales received his BS degree in Vision Science from Nova Southeastern University in Miami and his Doctor of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry. Dr. Canizales completed his optometric externship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami with emphasis in cornea, glaucoma, and retina clinics. He spent the last year as a primary eye care provider in an ophthalmology practice in Miami. He has volunteered with the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity through the New England College of Optometry and Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Ecuador.
Dr. Canizales is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, the Southwest Florida Optometric Association and the College of Optometry in Vision Development.
Born in Madrid, Spain, Dr. Canizales has lived in the United States all his life and moved to Naples from Miami, FL. He speaks fluent English and Spanish.
