News Release ~ July 19, 2001 DR. JOSEPH LEGIEC JOINS FLORIDA EYE HEALTH OPTOMETRIC TEAM FORT MYERS - Jonathan M. Frantz, MD, medical director of Florida Eye Health and The Center for Laser Vision Correction, is pleased to announce that Joseph Legiec, O.D., has joined the practice's optometric staff. He and his family have recently moved to Fort Myers from Richmond Hill, GA, where Dr. Legiec just completed his military obligation.
Dr. Legiec worked for five years in the EENT clinic at Martin Army Community Hospital, Ft. Benning, GA, where the ophthalmology and optometry services were closely inter-linked.
He provided primary and emergent eye care and established a
Low Vision/Vision Rehabilitation Service. He was also coordinator and primary preceptor for the optometry student externship program, taught emergency eye care to PA students and Family Practice Residents, and organized
yearly CE optometry lectures for the hospital staff. A graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, SC, Dr. Legiec received his O.D. degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Philadelphia. Licensed in
